JENNIFER RYBINE

I originally started JRDS (Jennifer Rybine Design Studio) in 2003 as a way to help independent musicians and other artists. I myself am a musician, singer, pianist, songwriter, actress, painter, sculptor, ceramicist, crafts person (bead artist, knitter, crocheter) and all around color lover and lover of beauty. Some of my favorite artists are Tori Amos, Dave Matthews, Tom Robbins, Kurt Vonnegut, Paul Klee, and Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

As I developed my web design skills, I started getting more and more requests for business sites. Although I was happy to do them, they were not as fulfilling for me as helping artists, photographers, actors and independent musicians.

I eventually decided to take a position in a print shop as a graphic designer, so as to broaden my skill set to include designing for print. All designers are not created equally, and there is a lot to know about both the print industry and the web industry. A print designer may not know all you need to know when laying out a design for web. It may look pretty, but there are lots of other things to keep in mind when designing for web, namely how the design is going to be programmed. The same goes for web designers trying to design for print. Now that I have experience in the printing industry, I know how to set files up properly, separate colors for the CMYK print process, and preflight images to print clean and crisp. I am happy to say I am now both a print designer as well as a web designer and programmer.

Regarding my own artwork, I'll be posting my personal projects right here.

Thank you for reading!

All the best,
Jennifer Rybine
